The Opportunity
The Manager, Regional Engagement, North West is responsible for designing and implementing best practice strategies and framework for regional community and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Lead (VTIF), North West, this role will build effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders (including local communities, landholders and Traditional Owners), developing collateral to support engagement strategies, and liaising with renewable energy proponents to support REZ planning and delivery.
This position is based within the North West region, with a focus on renewable energy projects being delivered in and near the North West Renewable Energy Zones (REZ).
What you will deliver
- Working closely with the Communications and Engagement Lead and fellow regional engagement teams, develop and deliver best practice, strategic communications and engagement strategies to build greater community understanding and acceptance about renewable energy projects and REZs for engagement with a range of stakeholders in the region.
- Work collaboratively with VicGrid regional and project team members to support REZ readiness and operationalisation.
- Identify issues and risks and provide advice and mitigation recommendations to senior management for timely and effective decision-making.
- Support the delivery of regional Community Energy Fund community reference groups, and other VicGrid-sponsored roundtables/forums/networks in a region.
- Work collaboratively with VicGrid Corporate Affairs team to develop local content for communications materials to effectively promote the VTIF and Victorian Transmission Plans.
- Lead, manage and support a high performing team to develop and deliver regional community and stakeholder engagement in the region.
What you will bring
- Strong experience in regional development and/or stakeholder engagement with regional communities, including experience working or engaging with First Peoples. Related experience on complex major projects is highly desirable.
- Strong experience in designing and delivering effective community engagement and consultation processes, along with experience creating high-quality communication and promotional materials.
- Place based understanding of North West regional communities and economies, and experience working respectfully with Traditional Owners in a self-determining manner, with networks in the region highly valued.
- Tertiary qualifications in stakeholder engagement, media, or public relations and Certification and/or familiarity with IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation would be highly regarded.
