THE ROLE
The Manager, NDIS Governance and Policy is responsible for driving Victoria's co-governance of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and leading on NDIS legislative and policy development and inputting into the broader disability reform agenda where it intersects with the NDIS. This role is responsible for developing Victoria's positions on the wide range of NDIS legislative and policy issues and supporting engagement at the intergovernmental level to negotiate national positions.
This position is responsible for analysing and providing advice on draft policy intent and draft legislative amendments in close collaboration with DFFH and DPC legal teams and VGSO. The Manager is also responsible for Victoria's responses to recommendations to the NDIS Review and Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Disability Royal Commission) where they relate to the NDIS. The role is also responsible for coordinating the briefing process for the Disability Reform Ministerial Council and related officials forums.
The Manager leads a small team and works in close partnership with the Disability Reform team given the current significant disability reform agenda that includes reform to the NDIS. The Manager, NDIS Governance and Policy will need to work closely with a broad range of stakeholders within the department and across the Victorian Government, as well as across jurisdictions and with the Commonwealth. The Manager will be required to drive and manage the analysis and coordination of complex information through liaison, negotiation and influence. They will act as the key coordination and management point for briefing processes for intergovernmental matters across a broad range of portfolio areas. Drawing on their skills as a manager and the strengths of team members, they will proactively develop strategic solutions and resolve intergovernmental issues as they arise.
