Fixed-term opportunity to lead a small team responsible for representing Victoria's interests in the operation and sharing of water in the Murray and connected river systems.
This is a rare backfill opportunity and would enable you to become an expert in how the waters of the Murray-Darling Basin are shared between states and delivered to achieve multiple outcomes. This role provides excellent insights into the world of river operations and can set you up to really understand big issues and reforms in the connected Murray-Darling Basin.
The Manager Murray Systems Operations role is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to step into a management role and lead a high-performing small team responsible for representing Victoria's interests in the operation and sharing of water in the Murray River and connected river systems. This team sits within our Water Markets, Operations and Compliance Branch, working across teams and jurisdictions on water market and operations implementation and reform.

This is a management position. This role will suit you if you are an effective problem solver that can bring out the best in those around you, using collaboration, influence and persuasion to help deliver outcomes in contested policy spaces. You will get to work with knowledgeable, enthusiastic and supportive people and maintain effective working relationships in a fun, complex environment. This role involves working in close collaboration with other Water Resources Strategy Division teams, offering the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and supportive management team.
Please note this role will likely involve some overnight travel (and fantastic learning and connection opportunities).

This is a fixed term position available until 04 December 2026. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
