About the Office of the Public Interest Monitor:
The Public Interest Monitor (PIM), of whom there are three, represents the public interest in the decision-making process about whether certain covert, intrusive and human rights-limiting powers and functions may be exercised. Some of those powers and functions are grouped together as “relevant applications” under the Public Interest Monitor Act 2011 (Vic) (PIM Act). Others arise under the Witness Protection Act 1991 (Vic) and the Human Source Management Act 2023 (Vic).
