Lead and support the development and delivery of strategies and strategic projects under VicGrid's strategic land use assessment program. Manage VicGrid's strategic land use planning and analysis projects supporting electricity transmission and renewable energy zone (REZ) planning, including the development of the Victorian Transmission Plan and future planning for REZs and transmission projects.
The Opportunity
The Manager, Land Use Strategy leads and supports the development and delivery of strategies and strategic projects under VicGrid's strategic land use assessment program. The role manages VicGrid strategic land use planning and analysis projects supporting electricity transmission and renewable energy zone (REZ) planning, including the development of the Victorian Transmission Plan and future planning for REZs and transmission projects.
The position requires strategic thinking and strong organisational skills to deliver high priority work in a fast-paced and complex delivery environment, ensuring high-quality delivery aligned with policy outcomes and organisational goals. High level interpersonal, communication and presentation skills are required to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders. What you will deliver
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies, plans and initiatives for integrating land use considerations into transmission and REZ planning to balance Victoria's energy needs with social, cultural, environmental and economic values.
- Lead and contribute to strategic land use assessments, spatial planning and other bespoke analysis supporting the provision of land use inputs and advice to development of the Victorian Transmission Plan.
- Manage and support a small high performing team to develop and delivery strategic land use analysis and advice to key VicGrid programs; provide leadership and professional development support to staff.
- Develop and provide strategic, authoritative, and accurate advice and documentation on strategic land use programs, projects and analysis to support business needs and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively across VicGrid Divisions and programs to develop and implement strategic approaches to land use planning and analysis aligned to best practice and supporting the coordination delivery of VicGrid's strategic outcomes and priorities.
- Lead, plan and support the delivery of effective external engagement initiatives to support strategic land use assessments and major programs including the VTP.
What you will bring
- Prior experience in leading land use planning and analysis projects, ideally with electricity transmission planning exposure.
- Knowledge and experience in spatial planning, strategic planning and/or land use planning will be highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is required, such as policy, law, environmental science, applied sciences or natural resource management.
- Knowledge and experience in the energy sector or major infrastructure will be highly regarded.
