About the Business Unit:
The Courts, Civil and Criminal Law (CCCL) group provides policy advice and support on criminal law, civil law, and court and tribunal issues for which the Attorney-General is responsible.
CCCL includes the Courts and Justice System Reform (CJSR) division, which leads strategic court and justice system reform relevant to the Attorney-General's responsibilities, including strategic projects relating to the courts and key entities across the justice system. CJSR works collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people-centred.
Within CJSR, Courts Policy, Strategy and Legislation (CPSL) supports and advises the Attorney-General on policy issues across the court and coronial systems.
About the Role:
As the Manager you will be responsible for delivering a breadth of policy reform and programs work across the priority policy reforms for the group. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team who deliver policy advice to executives and the Attorney-General on financial performance, justice system efficiency and impact analysis. The team also undertakes regulatory amendments to fee regulations. The team is currently focused on court financial sustainability, undertaking several projects/briefings on court finances. On an ad hoc basis, the team helps other areas undertake financial or data analysis.
The team also has responsibility as the portfolio entity manager of Country Court of Victoria and Court Services Victoria. This involves understanding the issues these organisations face, helping them connect to others in the department and reporting on each organisation's yearly documents.
The team has worked together for the past twelve months and collaborates significantly on work. Collectively the team has experience in policy, law, economics, accountancy, and courts.
Given the large volume of financial and other data, this position would suit someone who is very comfortable with figures and excel, and is familiar with the workings of the government financial management framework.
