The Department of Education is seeking a VPS6 Manager, HR Business Partnering to join our enthusiastic and team-focused branch.
The Department of Education is responsible for leading the delivery of education and development services to children, young people and adults both directly through government schools and indirectly through the regulation and funding of early childhood services, non-government schools and training programs across Victoria.

The People Strategy and Operations (VPS) Division is responsible for the department's human resources policies and services for the department's Victorian Public Service (VPS) workforce. It provides end-to-end people services, strategic workplace relations advice and support, employee learning and inclusion programs and support, workforce data analytics and strategic planning, and manages corporate office working places and environmental sustainability.
The HR Policy and Strategy (VPS) Branch is responsible for providing strategic HR and workplace relations advice and support for the department's VPS workforce. The branch develops human resources policies, programs and strategies to recruit and support a high performing workforce, whilst promoting best practice and compliance with relevant legislation. In addition, the branch provides strategic advice and recommendations on workforce issues relevant to the department and the Victorian Public Sector more broadly.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR practitioner to manage and lead a team of HR professionals to foster strong stakeholder relationships and deliver expert advice and high quality customer service.
The Manager, HR Business Partnering is responsible for leading the HR Business Partnering team which partners with VPS people leaders at the Department of Education and other portfolio entities to provide expert end-to-end guidance, support and advice on HR policy and people management matters.

The role will lead the direction, development and delivery of HR business partnering services and supports aimed at enhancing workforce performance, employee engagement and workplace culture. The incumbent will work closely and collaboratively with senior executives, management and business areas to provide service excellence and support tailored and effective employee outcomes.
The role supports managers and senior leaders on complex HR/IR issues and case management and facilitates issue resolution.
The HR Policy and Strategy (VPS) Branch is seeking individuals who have experience in the provision of expert HR/IR advice and have strong stakeholder and customer management skills.
About you
You will have previous experience in managing a team of HR practitioners and demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills.
You will possess strong conceptual and analytical skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition, you will be organised and able to work to often tight deadlines and with competing priorities.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is desirable, but not essential.
