THE ROLE
The Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and coordinating the department's Emergency Recovery Support Program for information and service navigation across all recovery environments,to support communities affected by the January 2026 Fires. Reporting to the Director, Emergency Management Strategy and Capability, this position will lead a dynamic team of staff supporting communities with their recovery, in collaboration with the department's divisions. The role will play a key role in managing the delivery of the Emergency Recovery Support Program, focusing on supporting affected people with complex recovery needs.
This role requires exceptional relationship building, stakeholder management, communication, and people skills, as well as proven previous experience in complex project management and program delivery, ideally with an emergency recovery lens. This position works closely with key internal and external stakeholders - including Emergency Recovery Victoria, local councils, the department's Emergency Management Psychosocial Services Panel of expert practitioners, peak bodies, and funded agencies within the sector - to deliver this recovery response. This role also requires someone who is able to represent the department at a range of forums, activities, and meetings.
This role operates within a highly dynamic and rapidly changing environment and requires the capacity to balance current service delivery needs with forward planning. It requires an advanced understanding of the nuances of recovery within communities impacted by major emergencies.
This role will also contribute to the 24-hour, 7-day-a-week preparedness and operations of state-wide emergency response activities in line with departmental guidelines, including undertaking the role of State Duty Officer on a rostered and on call basis.
