About the Group
The Social Policy group is responsible for providing the Premier with advice on social policy matters, including health; mental health; alcohol and other drugs; education; justice; emergency management; and families, fairness and housing. The group also leads and supports the delivery of the Multicultural Affairs ministerial portfolio.
The Education Branch provides high-quality, strategic analysis and advice on a range of education policy issues to support the Premier and Cabinet. The Branch also contributes to the development and delivery of key policies and priority projects from a whole-of-government perspective across:
The Branch also provides strategic advice to the Premier to support Victoria’s position in negotiations with the Commonwealth on education-related intergovernmental matters.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader to join the Education Branch of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact policy work at the centre of government.
Reporting to the Director, Education Branch, you will lead a team to deliver high-quality policy analysis and advice on issues across the branch’s portfolios. You will play an important role in reviewing policy proposals, assessing the impact of government decisions, and helping shape responses to complex and emerging issues.
Working in a high-performing and supportive environment, you will collaborate closely with senior executives, key departments and colleagues across DPC. The role requires sound judgement, discretion and the ability to deliver accurate, timely advice on sensitive matters.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, collaborative and confident working in a complex and fast-paced setting. You will bring strong policy, analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead a capable team and foster a positive and supportive team culture.
