About the Department
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Communications division collaborates with key stakeholders to strategically shape and deliver communication and community engagement opportunities.
This includes engaging with the Department's workforce, supporting the implementation of policies and reforms, protecting, and strengthening the reputation of our education system and providing communications support and advice to the Victorian Government.

Key responsibilities
The role leads on complex and sensitive projects, and is responsible for providing specialist communication advice to senior executive and program are, ensuring strategic alignment across various workstreams.
The role leads a team and builds collaboration across the Communications division and wider department.
Central to this role is the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external The role works collaboratively with other branches in the Communications division to ensure ensure effective coordination and alignment.
As a member of the management team, the position plays a key role in the development of staff through professional development, mentoring and workload management.
The role is also responsible for contributing to the overall management of the Communications division, leading management discussions, decision making and the identification of strategy and process improvements.
Portfolio Branch
The role is responsible for overseeing best practice communications and marketing campaigns, and shares the responsibility for complying with Whole of Victorian Government (WoVG) processes and governance requirements.The role is responsible for budget, people and contract management.
Public Communications Branch
The role is responsible for leading the coordination of significant communications projects including the annual NAPLAN reporting, major policy announcements and the State Budget process. The role leads the department's emergency response communications, as well as cross-divisional communication initiatives. This role manages the speechwriting function and has oversight of the major events team.
