About the role
This is a Full TIME FIXED TERM position until 09/07/2027
The Manager Commonwealth Program leads the team in the coordination and oversight of the Commonwealth-State investment program. The position supports the Deputy Secretary, Network Design and Integration in their accountability for DTP’s portfolio of transport programs, projects and initiatives, particularly those funded by the Commonwealth. The role is a key leadership role in the Roads and Commonwealth Program Branch.

We are seeking a proactive professional who can lead, coach and develop a high-performing team, drive positive culture change, and provide highly influential specialist advice to senior stakeholders on the delivery of complex investment programs. They will apply strong emotional intelligence, foster constructive relationships, and champion flexible work practices while clearly communicating insights that shape future strategic decisions.
Position accountabilities
– Manage DTP’s investment program including the allocation of funding and ongoing monitoring and assessment of the delivery of the investment programs.
– Support the Deputy Secretary, Network Design and Integration in their accountability for the Commonwealth-State Program in both development and delivery and the reporting of the of the program.
– Drive the establishment of cross functional and collaborative working relationships across DTP and VIDA, Commonwealth, and other State agencies to achieve integrated outcomes and ensure flexibility to respond to program and project development needs
– Provide authoritative and proactive advice to the Minister, DTP Executive and other State and Federal departments/agencies on any matters of program compilation, funding complexities and public interest matters at the program level and in relation to the Commonwealth-State program
– Effectively lead, manage, motivate and develop the Commonwealth Program team to achieve high levels of performance and to support a culture of innovation, continuous learning and personal growth to support achievement of DTP Corporate Plan.
– Negotiate high level outcomes that deliver on the objectives of DTP and drives DTP’s delivery of the Commonwealth-State investment programs.
Qualifications and experience
Mandatory
– Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (desirable).
Other position-specific requirements
– May involve evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel.
