About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Child Safety Branch as a Manager, with multiple positions available. The Child Safety Branch leads the department's work to strengthen child safety across the early childhood education portfolio, including oversight of the implementation of the 2025 Rapid Child Safety Review recommendations.
As a Manager, Child Safety, you will play a pivotal role in designing, delivering, and embedding reforms that enhance the safety and wellbeing of children in early childhood education and care settings. You will lead a dedicated team responsible for implementing key initiatives, developing policy advice, and enhancing sector capability to foster a strong child safe culture. The role works collaboratively with teams across the department and with Victorian Government agencies to ensure cohesive and effective reform delivery.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in leading complex projects and programs, proven capability in stakeholder and relationship management, strong communication skills, and demonstrated leadership experience in guiding high performing teams.

The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres
About the Division
The Child Safety Branch sits within the Child Safety Division in the Early Childhood Education Group. The Child Safety Branch leads the department's advice and action on child safety in the ECE portfolio. It leads the design and implementation of measures to support child safety in early childhood settings and to foster a child safe culture in the early childhood education and care system. In carrying out these functions, the Division works collaboratively with a range of other departmental teams and stakeholders.
