THE ROLE
The Manager, North Statewide Coordination and Implementation, Aboriginal Self-determination and Outcomes Division provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight to a team responsible for advancing Aboriginal self-determination and improving outcomes for Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities. The role contributes significantly to the strategic direction of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) by leading the delivery of coordinated, place-based initiatives that provide earlier and more connected support.
The Manager is responsible for leading and supporting a high-performing team to deliver key projects, programs, and priorities in partnership with Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), inter-sectoral stakeholders, and whole-of-government partners. The role drives a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement to ensure high-quality service delivery and improved outcomes across Aboriginal health, community, and social welfare sectors.
A key focus of the role is building and maintaining strong partnerships with Aboriginal communities and organisations to support self-determined outcomes. The Manager provides strategic oversight of place-based approaches that recognise the unique strengths, needs, and aspirations of local communities and ensure investment and service responses are tailored accordingly.
The role also leads the development and implementation of engagement and collaboration strategies that strengthen relationships across government, community, and sector partners. Through effective leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement, the Manager supports Aboriginal individuals and communities to exercise agency, influence decision-making, and build resilient, self-determined communities capable of addressing local challenges and opportunities.
