THE ROLE
The Placement Support Planning & Kinship Metro unit provide out of home care support and placement planning for children in out of home care. The Manager reports to the Manager Care Services and provides support North East Melbourne and Hume Merri-bek Areas.
You will provide team leadership and management oversight to dual area wide placement planning and complementary support services including:
- managing placement referrals for children and young people in need of out of home care
- managing alternative placements for children or young people already in out-of-home care
- monitoring and supporting existing placements to ensure optimum placement planning
- coordinating the critical supportive work provided by Health and Education Assessment Coordinators, Kinship Engagement Workers and Permanent Care Practitioners
- building and sustaining partnerships within the department and across service system.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Strategically design and develop the delivery of departmental objectives that impact significant localised service delivery and meet statewide departmental and government objectives and community expectations.
- Maintain an understanding of issues impacting the department's clients and investigate and lead critical projects that develop and review policies, professional standards and operating practices that enhance service delivery, budget effectiveness, efficiency and improved client outcomes.
- Forge strong connections across the department and with external stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach.
