THE ROLE
Reporting to the Director, this rewarding role presents an exciting opportunity to be involved in Aboriginal-led and self-determined policy design and delivery, in contributing to strengthened self-determination for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), and in supporting improved outcomes for Aboriginal children and families within the child protection system.
The role manages the team addressing child protection and family services related findings of the Yoorrook Justice Commission and for coordinating across DFFH to support the implementation of these findings.
The Response and Engagement team also leads on the development of policy advice and a project framework for delivering recommendations 11 and 12 of the Yoorrook Justice Report. This is being supported through policy scoping in partnership with the Department of Justice and Community Safety and relevant ACCOs (including Aboriginal legal services, children and family ACCOs and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation) on a consent-based Child Protection Notification and Referral System (CPNRS) for unborn reports.
This role would suit a talented and dedicated individual to join the branch to contribute to driving the design and delivery of policy, strategy, and legislation for Aboriginal children, families and young people associated with Victoria's Child Protection, Care Services, and Child and Family Services system.
The successful candidate will be required to prepare, oversee and ensure the delivery of high-quality briefs and reports. Skilled leaders with expertise in strategic planning, able to motivate and manage high-performing teams, and lead critical reform projects are encouraged to apply.
