THE ROLE
The Manager, Policy and Programs is a key member of the Emergency Management Branch responsible for leading an experienced team that delivers whole of government, state-wide and departmental emergency management priority policy and programs, and emergency management operational reforms for the department.
Reporting to the director, Emergency Management Strategy and Capability, this role is accountable for providing emergency management strategic leadership and contemporary policy advice to senior management, ministers, social services, community and emergency management sectors on current and emerging emergency management priorities, with a focus on people at greater risk in emergencies. This role works in partnership and engages collaboratively with colleagues in state government, non-government and sector and service partners to achieve this by building community resilience and minimising the impact of emergencies on communities and individuals.
The Manager is also responsible for supporting the delivery of innovative and community-centric models to improve outcomes in the event of an emergency, focused on supporting those most at risk in emergencies and contributes to the 24/7/365 emergency management roster and operational response to emergencies and provides important subject matter expertise during emergency operations.
This role contributes to the 24-hour, 7-day-a-week preparedness and operations of state-wide emergency response activities in line with departmental guidelines, including undertaking the role of State Duty Officer on a rostered and on call basis.
