THE ROLE
Business Portfolio Manager
Reporting to the Director, Business Portfolio and Delivery Management, the Business Portfolio Manager is a key role within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Branch. The Business Portfolio and Delivery Management Team works to facilitate the delivery of IT services that enable stakeholders to deliver on their commitments to Victorians. The Business Portfolio Managers hold accountability for the Strategic Advisors and Business Analysts to coordinate and lead responses to new and emerging requirements, risks and issues relating to the delivery of families, fairness, housing and corporate services.
Each Business Portfolio Manager is responsible for a specific portfolio of business areas, proactively engaging with executive stakeholders, service owners, and project teams to drive investment planning, change, and service improvements. The role involves portfolio planning, demand and benefits management, business case development, and investment oversight, ensuring that technology solutions support core departmental priorities.
Business Portfolio Managers are strategic advisors, providing insights into risks, opportunities, and dependencies across ICT initiatives while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and departmental ICT strategy. They work closely with business areas and technology teams to identify, assess, and prioritise initiatives for uplift, replacement, or new investment.
To be successful in this role, you will have strong stakeholder management, strategic planning, and organisational awareness. You will be comfortable working with complex, high-impact initiatives in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
