People employed at this level work under routine direction and undertake a variety of duties as directed within the College Library.
This position may involve giving basic technical and procedural advice to other staff, teachers, students or parents. It may require some knowledge and application of specific procedures, instructions or other requirements relating to general administration and/or specific College programs or activities.
Staff at this level will have an aptitude for clerical, computer, audio-visual and administrative work and the capacity to develop knowledge of school functions, activities and operational procedures, together with a basic knowledge of Library practice.
Officers undertaking work at this level would necessitate an ability to work with students, teachers and Library staff as part of a team.
General Duties
Maintaining/tidying the library space, library office and teacher resource room.
Assist staff and students to locate library resources.
Assist staff and students as required with audio visual equipment, printers and photocopying.
Ensure that students entering the library (during class time) have a note or class pass.
Circulation Desk Duties
Loan, return and reserve resources.
Shelving returned books and putting away library resources.
Create, dismantle or maintain class set tubs as required.
Library Database (Softlink) Duties
Cataloguing or checking entries of new books/resources.
Regular housekeeping of the library catalogue.
Weeding old/lost resources as required.
Overdue procedures, printing overdue reports for classes, staff or students.
Annual stocktake of fiction, non-fiction, teacher resources, magazines, games and other library equipment.
Maintain student details and add EAL tags to the required students.
Administration Duties
Communicate with staff as required, through email or teams.
Assist staff, if required with the booking system on SIMS.
Look up/print timetables for staff or students when requested.
Make/answer calls (through Teams or 3CX) as required.
Enter data onto SIMs as required.
Resource Maintenance Duties
Shelf reading ¿ ensuring correct order of fiction, non-fiction and teacher resource collections.
Ensure that new books are labelled, lexiled (where necessary), have the school stamp, a due date page and are covered with contact.
Place all new books on the new books display.
Regularly check the scholastic website for books that don¿t have a lexile entry on the catalogue.
Repair books or resources as necessary.
Equipment Maintenance Duties
Ensure printer photocopier is stocked with paper.
Assist staff and students with issues such as paper jams and printing errors.
Switch off all equipment, such as heaters, computers and televisions before closing the library.
Display/Promotion Duties
Prepare and create displays for different themes or events, for example Anzac Day.
Assist with preparation of display and competitions for Book Week.
Offer ideas to ICT for promotional material to be displayed on the monitors around the school.
Other Library Duties
Assist with supervision of students (during lunch and snack break). There must be a teacher on duty.
Distribute Scholastic Book Club brochures to year 7 English classes and display remainder in the library (orders to be sent to Felltimber).
Attend library meetings/ professional development/annual performance review as required.
Liaise with Felltimber library where necessary and use internal mail to distribute resources between campus libraries.
Morning and afternoon procedures in the absence of another library staff member.
Keeping up to date with current trends with authors and releases of books
