About the role:
The Regulatory Services Department is responsible for the regulation and compliance in the firearm, private security, and weapons industries and provides criminal history checks and fingerprinting services to the broader community, as well as crime and accident records reports for insurance purposes.
The Department is currently undertaking several projects of state and national significance, including Firearms Legislation reform and the National firearms buy back scheme, the National Firearms Register, Digital License Reform, and Private Security Legislative reform.
This position reports to the Unit Manager, Policy and Governance Unit in the Regulatory Services Department, Victoria Police.
This position is responsible for providing support to the Regulatory Services Department by providing clear guidance regarding new or amended legislation as well as working with internal and external stakeholders to develop policy proposals and legislative reform, government reporting obligations and responding to enquiries relating to policy or legislative frameworks.
