About Us:
The Major Crime and Investigative Powers (MCIP) team, within the Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services (IRLS) group, delivers strategic policy and legislative projects that require targeted research and consultation with justice sector partners. Ongoing projects led by the team include work in the major crime, criminal organisation, confiscation and investigative powers policy spaces.
More broadly, the IRLS group supports the Attorney-General, other DJCS Ministers and the department by providing legal, policy, integrity and assurance expertise. We work collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure our work is strategic, relevant, holistic and people centred.
The group has a broad range of responsibilities, including legal advice and services coordination, departmental integrity functions, legal policy and stakeholder management in the integrity, major crime, liquor and gaming spaces, and liquor licencing and regulation.
About the Role:
The Legal Policy Officer is responsible for contributing to the coordination, research, development, implementation, review and reform of policy and legislation across the Attorney-General's portfolio.
A Legal Policy Officer in MCIP will work flexibly across a range of subject matters and projects within the team and more broadly across the IRLS group as required to meet the priorities of government.
