- Providing, and supporting VIDA Roads lawyers in providing, high quality and pragmatic legal advice on a broad range of legal areas, including matters relating to project development, procurement, delivery, construction contracting, legislation, interfaces, land planning and environment, compliance and regulatory issues.
- Supporting the development and drafting of contractual and procurement documentation, briefs and related governance papers (to achieve desired outcomes within budget and agreed timeframes) in compliance with internal reporting and governance requirements.
- Providing advice and guidance with respect to applicable policies and procedures including Ministerial Directions, VIDA policies, conflicts management and probity requirements. Ensure the highest ethical standard in the delivery of VIDA Roads’ objectives, with strong commitment to the management of safety across all activities.
- Assisting in contract and claims management, legal research tasks and drafting of correspondence.
- Establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with the VIDA Roads legal team and with relevant stakeholders to enable the efficient and appropriate provision of legal services and to ensure VIDA Roads’ and project’s objectives are met.
The Legal Officer will provide legal advice from a project-wide lens to a range of stakeholders and in support of multi-disciplinary teams. VIDA Roads is a division within the Victoria Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA) responsible for planning and delivering major road projects in Victoria. The Legal Officer provides legal advice and support in relation to project procurement, project delivery and VIDA Roads organisational matters.
About You
- Excellent eye for detail in the review of key legal documentation, briefings and correspondence, identifying errors or issues, with an ability to relay information clearly and succinctly to resolve problems.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in law and admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a legal practitioner to the supreme court of Victoria is mandatory.
This is a maximum fixed term opportunity to December 2028.
