An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and highly motivated individual to join the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) as a Legal Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
As part of DPC's high performing OGC, you will take on a generalist role supporting OGC's three legal teams: the Public Law Team, Legislation and Policy Team, and the Corporate Legal Team. OGC provides strategic legal and policy advice to the Premier and Ministers supported by DPC and related agencies.
Reporting to the nominated managers, the Legal Adviser will provide strategic, risk-based legal advice and will be part of a high performing group. The Legal Adviser will deliver sensitive legal advice in an in-house environment on public law, corporate, and legislation and policy issues, as required. This may include working on administrative law, constitutional law, contracts (including procurement and grant agreements), employment law, native title and cultural heritage, Executive Government inquiries and statutory interpretation, development of legislation, and advising on legal policy matters relevant to DPC's responsibilities.
We are seeking a hard-working Legal Adviser with strong technical, legal and conceptual skills, to join a dedicated team of high performing lawyers in OGC. Flexibility and the ability to manage competing priorities and workloads in consultation with managers will be important to succeed. You must be admitted to practice as an Australian lawyer and hold a Victorian practising certificate.
