Our Leadership Team for 2025 comprises of 1 Principal, 2 Assistant Principals, and 5 Learning Specialists (Literacy, Numeracy, Junior Years and Senior Years). Currently, our teaching team consists of 62 teaching staff and 31 ES staff (admin, maintenance, learning support, and Business Manager) who cater for the needs of 625 students from year 7 - 12.

Demonstrated understanding of inclusive education principles. Ability to adapt materials, instructions, and tasks under teacher guidance to meet the varied learning needs of students, including those with disabilities and additional needs.

Ability to work cooperatively with teachers, Education Support staff, and wellbeing professionals to deliver consistent, coordinated support for students. Communicates clearly, follows direction, and contributes to shared goals.

Purpose of the Position
The Learning Support Assistant plays a vital role in promoting engagement, inclusion, and wellbeing for students who require additional learning and emotional support.
Working within the Learning Support Department, this position provides one-to-one and small-group assistance to students who may be disengaged, have learning difficulties, or require a quiet, supportive environment to complete classroom tasks. The Learning Support Assistant helps to create a calm, structured, and positive space that enables students to regulate, re-engage, and achieve personal learning goals.
This role would suit a qualified teacher or education professional who no longer wishes to work in a full classroom teaching capacity but is passionate about continuing to work directly with students to support their learning, confidence, and wellbeing in a more targeted and relational setting.
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.
Key Responsibilities
¿ Support the delivery of targeted learning and wellbeing programs within the Learning Support space and mainstream classrooms.
¿ Provide one-on-one or small-group assistance to students to help them understand and complete classroom tasks.
¿ Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote confidence, self-regulation, and engagement.
¿ Provide calm and consistent support for students who are feeling overwhelmed, disengaged, or require a quiet space to reset.
¿ Implement teacher-directed adjustments and strategies for students with disabilities, learning difficulties, or social-emotional needs.
¿ Assist students with organisation, time management, and understanding of instructions and assessment tasks.
¿ Collaborate with teachers, wellbeing staff, and the Disability and Inclusion team to monitor progress and share relevant observations.
¿ Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment within the Learning Support area.
¿ Model positive behaviour, empathy, and respect for diversity.
¿ Participate in professional learning and contribute to the continuous improvement of Learning Support practices.
