The role of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader is to work collaboratively with all Prep -Year 6 students, teachers and school leaders to guide, direct and facilitate the wellbeing and inclusion of our student population through a tiered approach to support. This role guides the development and implementation of proactive programs and responses to promote resilience and wellbeing amongst the students at Mindalk Primary School (MPS). The MHWL reports to the Assistant Principal and Principal.
Operating as a member of the Wellbeing Team, this role will aim to promote the personal, educational and social development of young people through the implementation of our Multi-tiered System of Supports at Mindalk Primary School. The Wellbeing Team support students from Foundation to Year 6. The flexibility and the capacity to prioritise according to need is key to managing this role in a busy school environment; it requires the ability to adapt to a range of situations. This position offers you the opportunity to work with students in supporting them through challenging circumstances, communicating with and between staff and students and working in partnership with parents when required. Making referrals to external service providers and support networks is vital in supporting students appropriately. It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to work within a team environment and manage their workload independently. A key focus of this role is working as part of our school team in achieving improvements in the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of our students.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.
Mindalk Primary School will be established in 2026 to meet the growing educational and enrolment need within Truganina.
Our school anticipates 300 enrolments in our inaugural year 2026, from Prep to Year 6 and will be situated within a growing housing estate with neighbouring grasslands, parklands, walkways and a proposed shopping precinct only 25km west of Melbourne¿s CBD.
