This professional is forward looking and visionary in leading and managing the details of this position by demonstrating and modelling outstanding skills, knowledge and performance. The Learning Specialist is responsible to the College¿s Strategic Plan. This professional leads with a high degree of autonomy within the culture of the College, its community and the complexities of the multi-Campus P-12 structure.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Extensive experience as a classroom teacher, demonstrating a deep understanding of pedagogy and curriculum.
Ability to build rapport with teachers, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate group discussions.
Understanding of explicit teaching and effective instructional strategies, assessment practices, and curriculum standards.
Proficiency in using student data to inform instructional decisions.
A passion for learning and a dedication to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
The Learning Specialist - Instructional Coach supports teachers in improving their practice and student outcomes. They work collaboratively with teachers, providing feedback, modelling best practices in teaching and learning through demonstration, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving their skills and facilitating professional development. The goal is to improve the teaching workforce by enhancing teaching effectiveness and ultimately improving student outcomes. The key responsibilities include:
Working with key stakeholders in middle and senior leadership to develop a common strategy within the framework of the college structures.
Working one-on-one or in small groups with teachers to identify areas for improvement in their teaching practice.
Providing constructive feedback on lesson planning, instructional strategies, classroom management, and assessment techniques.
Demonstrating effective teaching strategies in the classroom and co-teach lessons with teachers.
Leading PLCs, training sessions, and support other professional learning opportunities for teachers
Assist teachers in understanding and implementing curriculum standards and using data to inform instruction.
Encourage teachers to reflect on their own practice and identify areas for growth.
Use data to assess the effectiveness of coaching interventions and adjust as needed.
Foster a positive and supportive environment where teachers feel comfortable sharing ideas and collaborating with each other.
Keep up to date with the latest research and best practices in education.
Promote the College approach to teaching and learning in the classroom.
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.
