At Guthridge Primary School we have high expectations of all our students and aim to provide an opportunity for each of them to develop as learners, now and in the future. All students have individual learning goals and targeted teaching at their point of need.
Guthridge has a Foundation-support class specifically designed to support the transition from kindergarten to school for children who need a settling year of school, after a year at kindergarten.
At Guthridge, we promote positive and purposeful play to build healthy bodies and healthy brains. There are numerous research studies linking active play and academic success.
Students need to learn how to `play' just like academic aspects of education in order to develop in every way possible to be their best!

At Guthridge Primary School, we positively promote positive play choices by offering many options and activities to choose from at recess and lunch play times. Our supervised Play is the Way activities include dance, lego, box construction, ball sports, skipping, bat tennis, board games, down ball, chess club.
Our students participate in Specialist classes in Art, Music, Science, Physical Education and Swimming. Additionally, our school provides Instrumental Tuition (for senior students) and annually, a group of students participate in the Victorian State School Spectacular.
Additionally, the Department of Defence provide our school with funding to employ a Defence School Mentor to provide assistance and support to the children of Australian Defence Force members at our school.
Our Core Values are embedded in the language of our school and are very much the basis of our aspirations as life-long learners - Show Respect. Have a Go. Keep Trying. Bounce Back and Work as a Team. Ultimately we aim collectively to 'Be Our Best'.

Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning. Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
