Located in Truganina within Melbourne's rapidly expanding western growth corridor, Warreen Primary School opened in January 2024 as part of the Truganina North Learning Precinct. The school shares the precinct with a secondary campus and kindergarten, creating strong pathways for learning and community connection.

Leadership Structure
Warreen Primary School operates through a distributed leadership model that maximises impact across teaching, learning, wellbeing and school improvement. The Learning Specialist is an instructional leader who works closely with the Principal Class team and middle leaders to strengthen teaching practice, improve student learning outcomes and build staff capability.
The role provides leadership through coaching, mentoring and modelling exemplary classroom practice. The Learning Specialist supports the implementation of evidence-informed teaching, curriculum development and professional learning while fostering a culture of collaboration, high expectations and continuous improvement.
About the Role
The Learning Specialist plays a pivotal role in improving teaching quality and student achievement by leading instructional practice across the school. Working alongside teachers and leaders, the successful applicant will support the development of consistent, high-quality teaching practices aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and current evidence-based research.
A central focus of the role is building teacher capability through coaching, professional learning and collaborative inquiry. The Learning Specialist will model exemplary teaching practice, use data to inform improvement, and contribute to the development of a culture of collective efficacy where every teacher is supported to continually refine their practice.

The Learning Specialist is a visible, approachable and highly collaborative leader who actively supports teachers within classrooms and professional learning environments. Through coaching, modelling and ongoing professional dialogue, the successful applicant will help establish a culture where teachers feel supported, challenged and empowered to deliver high-quality instruction.
By building collective teacher efficacy and strengthening instructional practice, the Learning Specialist will play a significant role in improving student learning outcomes and ensuring every child is challenged, engaged and successful.

Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning. Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
