Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.
Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.
Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.
Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.
Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

Keelonith PS is located in Greenvale with a current enrolment of 365 students. Our team consists of 3 Principal class, 2 Learning Specialists, 16 mentor classes and 5 specialist subjects across the school with support from our Social Worker and Education Support teams. We opened in 2021 as a Supported Inclusion School and have embedded the principles of the Science of Learning, guided by Rosenshine, and school wide operational expectations, supported by Berry Street Education Model, resulting in a calm, consistent and predictable learning environment.

· Establishes and maintains predictable routines, processes and structures that promote safe, purposeful classrooms in line with the consistent practices of the school
· Is committed to inclusive education and value every child¿s right to access, participate, and grow
· Has experience with, and a deep understanding of, the Disability Inclusion reform and associated processes
· Can support staff with the implementation of strategies and adjustments to ensure accessibility to curriculum for the Tier 2 and Tier 3 students.
· Can support staff to communicate with families through Individualised Education Plans and Student Support Group meetings
· Can lead and coordinate the formal Year 6 to Year 7 transition process, ensuring a smooth and supported progression for all students. Further supporting the transition of new students throughout the school year.
· Can support teachers to use data and evidence to inform planning, instruction, and intervention
· Can work collaboratively with teams to design, deliver and reflect on high-quality curriculum and pedagogy
· Models high-level teaching practice and supports others through observation and feedback as part of an instructional coaching approach to build teacher capacity.
