NATURE OF POSITION:
Mooroolbark College coordinates the delivery of its curriculum plan through the appointment of Heads of the eight Learning Areas. The Head of each Learning Area is the leader in the delivery and development of curriculum within the Learning Area ensuring rigour and high standards. They will also manage the physical and human resources allocated to the Learning Area.
COMMITTEE/WORK GROUP MEMBERSHIP:
This position is a member of the School Improvement Team and the Teaching and Learning Executive.
Attend, or arrange for a representative to attend, Curriculum Implementation Team meetings.
Conduct calendared Key Learning Area Meetings using published agendas and minutes that provide the opportunity for staff to engage in professional dialogue to improve teaching and learning within the Key Learning Area.
Facilitate either a Professional Learning Community or operate a Professional Learning Workshop.
Attend each meeting of the Education Sub Committee of College Council to report on relevant Strategic Plan/AIP goals/targets
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

English and Mathematics are priority leadership areas at Mooroolbark College during the Strategic Plan (2026 ¿ 2029).
Lead a collaborative team environment which is underpinned by consistent practices across all teaching teams.
This role requires the Leading Teacher/Key Learning Area Leader to build the teaching and learning capacity within the KLA, working with the Learning Specialists in Literacy and Numeracy.
Working with the Leading Teacher ¿ Curriculum Operations and Data and the relevant Learning Specialist to undertake data collection and analysis to inform a teaching and learning program which maximises student growth within the English/Maths KLA.
In addition, the Leading Teacher/KLA Leader will undertake the general Head of KLA responsibilities ¿

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
