Laboratory Manager - Research Operations
- Ongoing, part time position - 60.8 hours per fortnight (4 days per week)
- Up to $94,862.04 (1RA5) to $115,527.48 per annum (1RA10) - depending on qualifications and experience. Full-time equivalent to be pro-rated for part-time.

About the role
The role will be responsible for the managing of up to 2 research laboratory clusters comprising of approximately 50-80 researchers per cluster and/or supporting core facilities and will be responsible for the following:
- Administering and coordinating the operational activities of nominated cluster(s) within the research/core division.
- To act as an advisor to research staff and help resolve technical and operational issues.
- Develop and administer cost recoveries, laboratory schedules/rosters and provide induction and training.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and policies are reviewed and consistently applied.
The role may also be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this description dependent on research needs.
About you
You will have advanced communication and negotiation skills with highly developed analytical and decision-making skills as well as problem solving skills with great attention to detail.
You'll bring with you:
- Relevant Qualification in science discipline or equivalent sector experience
- At least 3 years direct experience working in a research laboratory
- Proven financial and project management skills
- Ability to prioritise effectively, multitask and manage conflicting deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a busy team
- Sound knowledge of modern laboratory OH&S procedures and practices.
Prior experience in research laboratory management including facilities and infrastructure management or working within a Private-Public Partnership (PPP) facility will be an advantage.
