An exciting opportunity exists for a Koorie Education Children's Court Liaison Officer (KECCLO) (Senior Community Services Advisor) providing education advice and support for Koorie children and young people aged 12-17 years old who are coming into the Criminal Division of the Children's Courts and Koorie Children's Courts across Victoria. The position will primarily cover, Shepparton, Benalla, and Seymour and other various locations of courts.

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the role
The KECCLO works in collaboration with key support services to re-connect the young person with their existing or new school or education/training setting. The KECCLO will work closely in partnership with Department of Education Area and Regional Teams, schools and other relevant key government agencies such as the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and Department of Justice and Community Safety. This position is based in the Department of Education's North-Eastern Victoria Region - with the opportunity to work from North East Victorian Offices such as Shepparton, Seymour or Benalla. Regular travel to the these Children's Courts is required.
KECCLO may be required to travel to other Children's Court and Koorie Children's Court locations in the region (where applicable) to provide referral assistance for young people appearing before the Court.
The Officer will also be required to facilitate access to appropriate education options for Koorie young people on community-based youth justice orders.

To succeed in this role, you will have the ability to work effectively with local Koorie communities, demonstrating extensive knowledge and understanding of Koorie culture, education and community needs.
