About the Group
Schools and Regional Services (SRS) offers central, regional, and local expertise to enhance learning and development outcomes, supported by a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments. SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets. Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices. The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs.
The role is located in the Area ED Unit, Bayside Peninsula Area, South Eastern Victorian Region, SRS.
About the Role
The Headstart initiative is being implemented by designated clusters of schools across nine areas. The purpose of this role is to support the strategic implementation and area accountability for the Headstart initiative. This role will be required to provide support to clusters of schools in the establishment phases of Headstart and creating strategic partnerships with key stakeholders including Local Learning and Employment Networks, training providers and employers. The role will also work with all schools within the area and key stakeholders to support implementation of the broader suite of career education and vocational pathways reforms and ensure integration and alignment with local Headstart initiative for participating schools. This will involve driving continuous improvement and quality in vocational learning opportunities and post-school outcomes for students, including through VET and apprenticeships and traineeships undertake by students as part of the senior secondary certificates.
The Jobs Skills Pathway Manager role includes building the sustainability of local engagement with industry, employers, Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLEN), TAFE and other registered training providers, VET and higher education providers and Group Training Organisations and their capability to support the delivery of Headstart and the suite of careers and pathways reforms in government schools across the area.
The position will be part of a multi-disciplinary approach at the area level and work closely with other regional staff including the Youth Pathways and Transition Managers and Senior Regional Pathways Advisors providing specialist support to school based careers and VET practitioners and school based Headstart staff to implement and integrate career and pathway programs and support informed course and career decisions for students, aligned to industry needs.
