Proven experience in managing and maintaining a school-wide ICT infrastructure, including server environments, networks (wired and wireless), internet filtering systems, device management platforms (e.g., Intune, JAMF), and backup systems. Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
The IT Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and maintenance of the school¿s information and communication technology (ICT) systems to support effective teaching, learning, and administration. Operating at a senior level within the Education Support workforce, the IT Manager provides expert advice, leadership, and hands-on support in the development and implementation of ICT infrastructure, digital learning tools, and school-wide technology initiatives.
This role involves coordinating all aspects of ICT services, including network administration, hardware and software management, cybersecurity, and user support for staff and students. The IT Manager works collaboratively with school leadership, teaching staff, and external providers to ensure technology systems are aligned with school goals and comply with Department of Education and Training (DET) standards.
The IT Manager is also responsible for managing ICT budgets and procurement, providing technical guidance to school staff, and ensuring the school¿s digital environment is safe, secure, and accessible to all users. This position may involve supervision of ICT support staff and requires a high level of initiative, problem-solving ability, and professional communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:Manage and maintain the school¿s ICT infrastructure, including servers, networks, Wi-Fi, backups, and security systems.
Provide strategic ICT planning and advice to school leadership in line with DET policies and school priorities.
Support the integration of technology in teaching and learning through collaboration with staff and leadership teams.
Deliver technical support to staff and students, ensuring high levels of customer service and timely issue resolution.
Oversee asset management, software licensing, and procurement of ICT equipment and services.
Manage ICT-related compliance including eSafety, privacy, and the Department¿s Child Safe Standards.
Liaise with external ICT service providers and DET support services as needed.
Lead or supervise ICT support staff, as applicable, and support their professional development.

Birranga College sits in a rapidly growing residential area in the suburb of Clyde North.
