Investment Manager
The Role
As an Investment Manager, you will work directly with businesses across Australia to help them access government support, programs and expertise, contributing to Victoria's investment, innovation and job creation priorities. Working primarily across Victoria's health technologies and medical research sectors, you will collaborate across the Victorian Government Trade and Investment network to identify investment opportunities, engage industry stakeholders and support economic development. You will provide strategic oversight of investment proposals and portfolios, assess complex business cases and financial models, identify risks, and develop evidence-based recommendations to ensure public investment delivers intended economic and social outcomes.
Main Accountabilities
The Team
The position of Investment Manager forms part of the Investment and Engagement Branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group.
The ITI group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. It promotes Victoria as a destination of choice for trade, international investment, international education and innovation, while supporting priority sectors, boosting trade and contributing to economic growth.
The Investment and Engagement Branch promotes Victoria as an investment destination and works with companies to attract and deliver investment projects. The branch manages the Department's investment pipeline, engages with domestic and international businesses with growth potential, gathers sector-specific business intelligence and identifies barriers to investment and growth. It also provides whole-of-government investment and business engagement project assistance, facilitation and investor relations support.
About You
You are a collaborative professional who builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, guides others to share knowledge and works across teams to achieve shared outcomes. You bring strong business and commercial acumen, with the ability to assess business cases, identify opportunities to maximise value and return on investment, and contribute to sound investment decisions. You can build trust with partners, facilitate discussions, navigate differing perspectives and deliver quality outcomes. Experience in health technologies, life sciences or medical research is desirable, as is a tertiary qualification in arts, business, economics, commerce, public policy, international relations or a related discipline.
