The Role
The Investment Manager – Americas is responsible for facilitating and delivering international investment opportunities for Victoria from the United States, Canada and Latin America. The role supports the implementation of investment attraction strategies, works with international companies and contributes to securing new investments and jobs for Victoria.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, experience working with organisations across the Americas region and a sound understanding of international business investment and market trends. The role involves working collaboratively across government and industry, supporting investment facilitation activities and providing strategic advice on investment opportunities for Victoria.
Main Accountabilities
• Build and manage relationships with international companies considering investment in Victoria and coordinate investment facilitation activities.
• Support Victorian Government Trade and Investment (VGTI) offices to develop and implement international investment attraction strategies.
• Contribute to international lead generation activities and proactively identify investment opportunities and targets.
• Provide high-level advice, analysis and solutions to executives, Ministers and Cabinet regarding international investment opportunities.
• Negotiate financial incentives and support the administration of investment agreements and commercial arrangements.
The Team
The position of Investment Manager – Americas forms a part of the Investment and Engagement branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment group.
The Industry, Trade and Investment group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. The group supports trade, investment, innovation and industry development across priority sectors and global markets.
The Investment and Engagement branch (Invest Victoria) plays a key role in driving strategic investment into Victoria by proactively identifying and facilitating foreign and domestic investment opportunities and strengthening industry engagement across government and business stakeholders.
About You
You will bring experience in economic development, investment attraction and project management, ideally supporting organisations seeking to enter new international markets. You will also have experience working with organisations from the United States, Canada or Latin America, preferably within a commercial, investment or economic development environment.
You will demonstrate a strong understanding of Victoria's value proposition for international investment and how organisations make investment location decisions. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills will enable you to work effectively with complex organisations and government stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
