Investment Lead, Defence, Aviation & Aerospace
- Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus Superannuation)
- Fixed term role for 3 years
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available)
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Investment Manager, Defence & Aerospace Team, this role will be pivotal in developing and coordinating an investment program to improve Victoria's industry competitiveness and support growth of targeted defence and aerospace industries.
The responsibilities of the Investment Lead will include:
- Facilitating development of relationships with industry and other internal and external stakeholders and industry associations, research institutes and academia
- Providing key advice, analysis and guidance to support Ministers and senior executives on the economic issues and trends relevant to defence and aerospace and related commercial activities and their combined impact on Victoria.
- Managing coordination and facilitation of large, sophisticated investment attraction projects with complex contract negotiations and commercial arrangements.
- Encourage and foster strong working relationships and work collaboratively across the local and international VGTI network across the department and broader government to increase the State's capabilities and secure investments to the State.
- Provide specialist advice and to senior management regarding highly complex and sensitive issues relevant to economic development opportunities within the region.
The Team
The position of Investment Lead, Defence, Aviation & Aerospace forms a part of the Defence, Aviation and Aerospace branch in the Industry, Trade and Investment group.
The Industry, Trade and Investment (IT&I) Group's key objectives are to help Victorian businesses grow, create more job opportunities, develop key industries and be innovation leaders. The Defence, Aviation and Aerospace Branch provides whole of Victorian Government leadership and coordination on the defence and aerospace and the aviation industries to grow these sectors and capture specific strategic opportunities.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- An understanding of investment trends and related sector opportunities for Victoria, and a good understanding of the defence and aerospace business environment.
- Experience in business development and project management and experience working with prospective investors seeking to enter a new market would be well regarded.
- An understanding of Victoria's value proposition as a location for defence and aerospace investment with a demonstrated experience in undertaking complex and sensitive negotiations and influencing outcomes.
- Proven leadership and influencing skills, demonstrating initiative and flexibility combined with the ability to motivate internal and external stakeholders to achieve key performance indicators.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including experience in presenting to internal and external clients along with demonstrated experience in supporting complex, contentious and sensitive negotiations.
