About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
Funds in Court
Funds in Court [FIC] is a discrete, self-funded, administrative division of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
FIC assists the Senior Master, who is an Associate Judge of the Court, in administering and investing funds in Court for people who are under a legal disability. A person is under a legal disability if he or she is under 18 years old, or has an intellectual or physical disability, or both.
Funds may be awarded by the County Court, Magistrates' Court or the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT). People who have money administered by the Senior Master are referred to as “clients” of the Court.
The Senior Master becomes the “legal owner” of the funds, holding them in trust for people who do not have capacity to manage their own affairs. The staff at FIC provide a range of services to support the Senior Master and the administration of funds.
