An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).

An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.

Bonbeach Primary School was built in a well-established and attractive area in 1958. The school is situated in the City of Kingston, 35 kilometres southeast of Melbourne. The location provides the school with easy access to Port Phillip Bay, Edithvale Wetlands and Patterson River and community sporting venues. The school sits amidst extensive, picturesque, treed grounds.

Curriculum
The education program offered by Bonbeach Primary School is highly regarded by the community. The emphasis of the program is the development of literacy and numeracy and student well-being, supported by Key Improvement Areas of Teaching and Learning with a particular emphasis on student engagement, development of Literacy, in particular writing, and Whole School Welfare. Bonbeach Primary School also provides a comprehensive curriculum covering all eight key learning areas. Curriculum planning, delivery and assessment are based strongly on Victorian Curriculum. Organised access to the latest learning technologies is available throughout the school.
Curriculum Organisation and Delivery
The school structure is co-educational with a mix of composite and straight grades. Co-operative planning and interaction among all grades and sections, is strongly promoted.
Programs are operating in Literacy Support, the Victorian Early Years Literacy Program, Library, Visual Arts, Indonesian, Performing Arts, and Physical Education. Music, Physical Education, Literacy support and Indonesian are taught with teachers being responsible for `specialists¿ programs' as well as other co-ordination duties and roles.
Bonbeach Primary School offers its students many opportunities to be actively involved in an extensive range of enrichment activities such as: - Junior School Council, Science, Technology and Mathematics theme days, camping, concert performance, swimming, buddies, Life Education, transition (Pre-School to Preparatory and Year 6 to 7). There is a strong emphasis on participation in sport with successful inter-school competitions in athletics, swimming, cross-country running and summer and winter sports.
Each student is assessed regularly so that strengths can be built upon, and, through a very active Pupil Welfare Team, which works with Guidance Officers, Speech Therapist, Visiting Teachers and parents, improvement areas can be identified and dealt with through individual assistance and a literacy intervention program.
Staffing
Bonbeach Primary School has a staff of 28 teachers including the Principal and Assistant Principal. Support staff includes a full-time Business Manager and a part-time administrative officer and 9 integration aides. Our Preschool has 3 Early Childhood Teachers and 3 Educators.
Environment
Bonbeach PS and Preschool have recently completed a major building upgrade, enabling the school to have state of the art facilities.
The community is very proud of its magnificent grounds that provide quiet shaded areas, a large oval, basketball and netball courts, an outdoor learning area as well as senior and junior adventure playgrounds.
