About the Role:
This is a Permanent Part-Time position within the Central Sterilising Services Department (CSSD). The Grade 5 Instrument Technician Educator role requires advanced technical CSSD expertise, with specialist skills in education and training, and extensive knowledge and experience in instrument tracking systems (i.e T-DOC). Operating across all areas of CSSD, this senior technician works with a high level of autonomy and accountability, overseeing the department's training and development of CSSD staff. The role ensures that all surgical instruments and equipment are reprocessed in strict compliance with current standards for Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs), Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C) protocols, and RCH policies and procedures.
A key responsibility of the position is providing critical T-DOC support, including tracking, amending, and improving the database to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. The Grade 5 Educator also leads the education, training, and competency assessment of CSSD staff, while driving continuous quality improvements to ensure an efficient, safe, and patient-focused service. In addition, the position functions in a supervisory capacity, acting as a key liaison for the Perioperative Suite and Division of Surgery to ensure the ongoing availability of safe, sterile, and functional instruments essential for uninterrupted surgical activity.
