The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Coordinator to provide a critical role at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre.
About the Business Unit
The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
Corrections Victoria is responsible for the implementation of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Corrections Victoria also sets strategy, policy and standards for the management of the state's system of correctional facilities whilst also developing programs for the management and rehabilitation of prisoners and the community-based supervision of offenders.
As part of the CJS group, the DPFC is a 568-bed medium to maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.
About the Role
Reporting to the Performance and Planning Manager, the IT Coordinator (ITC) at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre is responsible for the effective management of technology resources for staff and women, ensuring that resources are managed effectively, allowing them to operate as intended, being protected from misuse and compliance with Corrections Victoria and departmental technology policies and guidelines. The ITC will coordinate project work relating to technology, including voice systems, and will work closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure works and upgrades are carried out according to timeframe and budget.
The ITC will be responsible for the management and reporting of DPFC owned technology assets and be the liaison between the DPFC and Corrections Victoria Technology Services on various projects including system upgrades and new technology rollouts.
This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
