About the Department
The Schools Workforce Group (SWG) has a lead responsibility to support the attraction and retention of teachers in Victorian government schools, provide high-quality schools HR operations, and provide policy and employee relations advice.
The Schools Workforce Group are responsible for:
providing high-quality human resources and recruitment services to Victorian government schools
developing school workforce supply and demand strategies and initiatives
supporting the attraction and retention of teachers in Victorian government schools
managing the industrial environment, and provide strategic and timely human resource advice
providing consultancy support to principals and schools in relation to Human Resources matters.
About the Division
PSS provides support and advice in the areas of human resources policy, payroll and leave, recruitment, and targeted initiatives.
Functions include:
providing support and advice on payroll and recruitment
support school workforce performance and development
supporting Schools Workforce Planning
HR data analysis and reporting and Workforce Supply and Demand Report
implementation and management of a range of workforce supply initiatives aimed at increasing supply and distribution of teachers across Victoria.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a self-motivated HR Specialist to assist in the management of a team of dedicated HR consultants responsible for delivering high level consultancy and assistance to schools on the Department's online recruitment system (School Jobs Vic) and complex recruitment issues.
The successful applicant will have experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team and a strong attention detail, be client focused, have a professional phone manner and have the capability and experience of working with Microsoft office, in particular word, excel and outlook.
Key responsibilities are;
• Assisting team members with technical advice and/or support
• Providing advice on the appropriate interpretation of Department HR policy and or HR processes relating to recruitment and staffing in a school setting
• Be available to work between the hours of 8 am to 5.30 pm five days a week
• Provide advice and support on a range of recruitment initiatives
• Assist the manager with a range of activities, including reporting, writing and staff development.
