THE ROLE
The Housing First Coordinator works as part of a small team to support housing pathways for people experiencing homelessness.
Clients eligible for the Housing First initiative are likely to have increased vulnerability and risks while experiencing homelessness. As such, they require access to specialist homeless and other health and human services to resolve their homelessness and address their support needs.
The Housing First Coordinator works collaboratively with local housing teams and funded service providers to:
- find suitable housing for clients, and
- maintain this collaborative approach to sustain housing outcomes.
The coordinator also:
- Works closely with Division/Area based and state-wide homeless and housing leads, including Client Support and Housing units in Areas, Homes Victoria, other programs relevant to this client cohort, and other key stakeholders.
- Develops strong working relationships with key partners and stakeholders,
- In collaboration with others, scopes, defines, and researches problems, develops evidence-informed and innovative solutions, test systems and makes practice changes.
- Uses their coordination and problem-solving skills to address problems as they arise and improve outcomes for clients.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide or contribute to authoritative and expert advice and recommendations with a specific program or area-based focus, consistent with organisational goals and
- In collaboration with the relevant Manager, manage the allocation of resources within and the outputs required of the work area to achieve service delivery goals and
- Interpret and apply business plans and policies in own area of responsibility and provide advice to others on design and implementation
