The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

The position focuses on supporting schools to implement the five elements in the School Guide to Attendance, ensuring school procedures and practices are aligned with department of education policy, guidance, and resources.
The position will work closely with Health Wellbeing Specialist Services branch, and other colleagues to ensure schools can provide comprehensive wrap around service provision that supports student learning, engagement, inclusion and attendance.
The position requires strong knowledge of the School Guide to Attendance, and its five key elements for attendance, along with experience in providing sound advice and strategies for schools to support the improvement of attendance.
The successful applicant also has the delegated role to undertake the School Attendance Officer processes.
