The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Safety Operations, the Health and Safety Manager runs a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to deliver VicGrid's safety and wellbeing strategy across the Western Renewables Link project, ensuring care, accountability, and strong representation of health and safety priorities at every stage of the project lifecycle. This role builds trusted relationships across delivery teams, management, regulators, and industry partners, while fostering an inclusive, high-performing safety culture.
The Manager provides clear, practical guidance, supports pre-emptive risk awareness and control, and champions continuous improvement through shared learning, insights, and best practice—helping create clarity, confidence, and a positive, values-driven reputation for VicGrid.
This role is based in Melbourne with the option for Ballarat-based candidates to work locally on occasion.
What you will deliver
• Guide and support a collaborative health, safety and wellbeing function, enabling effective workforce planning, thoughtful prioritisation, and balanced resource management across the project lifecycle.
• Offer trusted, strategic health and safety guidance to senior stakeholders and across VicGrid, supporting legislative compliance and the consistent integration of safety into planning, procurement, design, construction, and commissioning.
• Nurture the implementation and ongoing enhancement of VicGrid's Health and Safety Management System and Enterprise Project Framework, including embedding the Active Client Model to create clear, shared safety expectations across all delivery partners.
