Manor Lakes P-12 College opened in 2009 and is located in Minindee Rd, Wyndham Vale. The college currently has an enrolment of 3000 students. The enrolment is expected to stabilise and possibly decline in the primary years (additional primary schools opening in the neighbouring area) and to continue to increase at secondary level. The backgrounds of our students reflect a cultural and socio-economic diversity. The college has a Student Family Occupation (SFO) of 0.552 which indicates that there is a level of disadvantage within our community. Approximately 16% of our student population come from a language background other than English.

This school based position offers regular school hours to a Registered Nurse with part time options available for the
right candidate. Attendance is generally not required during school holiday periods and would suit a candidate
interested in predictable working hours.
This role involves leading a small team of nursing and first aid staff across the College managing day-to-day
workload/accountability tasks in addition to reviewing/developing policies and procedures related to student health
and wellbeing. The successful applicant will demonstrate high levels of autonomous and independent practice within
the school setting whilst leading the nursing/first aid practices of the team. The role requires exceptional
communication skills across students, staff, families and external providers. The right candidate would also be able
to support teaching staff in delivering educational programs related to student health and wellbeing.
* Provides timely, high-quality and evidence-based primary health care to students.
* Undertakes comprehensive health assessments, plans and evaluates ongoing care to promote the health,
wellbeing, and development of individual students.
* Provides leadership to other school based Nursing and First Aid Staff, including managing daily organisation,
professional performance and professional learning for the team.
* Oversee the development and refinement of school based policies and processes related to health, administration
of medication, first aid and nursing etc.
* Provides health advice and acts as a clinical resource to the school community, including supporting other school
staff to develop health based learning programs/opportunities for students (e.g. hygiene, self-care, physical health,
healthy eating, mental health and wellbeing, alcohol and other drugs, allergy responses etc).
* Recognises where it is appropriate to make referrals to health practitioners, and to other service providers to meet
the individual healthcare needs of students.
* Facilitates links between the school community and relevant primary health care services.
* Develops, implements and evaluates health education and promotion programs in response to identified health
priorities in schools and in collaboration with school community.
* Communicates effectively with students, their families, the school community and with other health practitioners
and service providers.
* Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents and other school clients.
* Ensure all external health providers deliver the required service.
* Other duties as required by the Principal.
