About the role
The Head of Architecture provides pragmatic, business-aligned leadership for enterprise, solution, data, integration and technology architecture across the commission. The role helps the organisation make better technology choices by translating business strategy, regulatory needs and operational pain points into clear options, practical target states and fit-for-purpose design decisions
The role is key in guiding the commission toward better outcomes over time: building trust with business areas, improving coherence across business-managed and central IT solutions, reducing risk and duplication, and establishing architecture practices that are proportionate, usable and capable of being adopted.
The Head of Architecture partners closely with executives, business leaders, project teams and vendors to shape options, explain trade-offs, support procurement and delivery decisions, and uplift the organisation’s architectural capability. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on solutioning, working through multiple pathways and recommending pragmatic compromises where needed to balance value, risk, speed and sustainability.
