The officer triages all maintenance requests, prioritising tasks based on safety, urgency, and impact on learning. They communicate regularly with leadership about major works, hazards, and contractor activity, while keeping accurate maintenance records. The role supports school operations by assisting with event setup, monitoring compliance with safety standards, and ensuring a welcoming, well-presented environment for students, staff, and visitors.
The Grounds and Maintenance Officer ensure that the school environment is safe, clean, and well maintained. Key responsibilities include conducting daily safety checks, responding to hazards, and keeping all buildings, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces in good condition. The role involves general grounds work such as waste management, and yard presentation, as well as minor repairs to buildings and equipment.

About our School:
Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College is a new school that opened in Werribee in January 2024. On opening Walcom Ngarrwa, welcomed 177 Year 7 students to the school community. Over the coming years, the school will add a new year level every year through until 2029, when we will have students from Year 7-12.

In 2025 our school community was made up of 440 students in total, across Year 7 & 8. Our staff team comprised 1 Principal, 2 Assistant Principal, 3 Leading Teachers, 2 Learning Specialists, 21 Classroom Teachers, 2 Para Professionals, and 16 Education Support Staff.
In 2026 we are excited to grow our student numbers to 700 students, spread across Years 7-9.
