KSC 1. Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, with experience working with children or in a school/community health setting (desirable).
KSC 2. Demonstrated ability to manage student health and medical needs, including administering first aid, maintaining medical plans, monitoring medication expiry and liaising with families.
KSC 3. Strong organisational and record-keeping skills, including maintaining confidential health records, entering sick bay visits into EduSafe, and managing first aid supplies and kits (classrooms, excursions and camps).
KSC 4. Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate with staff regarding students with anaphylaxis and other medical conditions, and to contact families regarding sick bay visits.
KSC 5. A calm, caring and professional approach, with a strong commitment to student wellbeing, child safety and collaborative practice.

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Student Health & Wellbeing
Provide first aid and nursing care to students as required throughout the school day
Administer medications to students in accordance with medical plans, authorisations, and Department of Education guidelines
Manage and monitor sick bay visits, including accurate entry of all visits into EduSafe
Contact families regarding student illness, injury, or sick bay visits in a timely and professional manner
Medication & Medical Management
Maintain accurate records of student medications, including storage, administration, and documentation
Monitor medication expiry dates and medical management plans, and proactively contact families when updates or replacements are required
Ensure all student medical plans (including anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes, and other health conditions) are current and accessible
Maintain confidential student health records in line with privacy requirements
Anaphylaxis & Emergency Preparedness
Ensure all staff are aware of students with anaphylaxis and other high-risk medical conditions
Maintain stock and readiness of anaphylaxis kits, EpiPens, and emergency medication
Prepare, maintain, and restock first aid kits, including excursion and camp first aid bags
Support emergency response procedures related to student health incidents
Staff Training & Compliance
Organise, coordinate, and monitor staff training in:
First Aid
CPR
Anaphylaxis
Medication Administration (including Medaz)
Maintain accurate records of staff training and certification expiry dates
Liaise with external training providers as required
Health Administration & Systems
Ensure first aid supplies are appropriately stocked and reordered as required
Enter and maintain accurate health and incident records using school and Department systems
Support leadership with health-related reporting and compliance requirements
Maintaining all policies in relation to health and wellbeing
Communication & Collaboration
Work collaboratively with leadership, teachers, education support staff, and families to support student health and wellbeing
Communicate sensitively and professionally with families regarding student health matters
Provide guidance and support to staff in relation to student health needs and procedures
Other tasks, as directed by the Principal
Child Safety & Professional Practice
Uphold child safety standards and promote the wellbeing of all students
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

The School Nurse is responsible for:
Provide first aid and administer medications to students, maintaining accurate records and following medical plans
Monitor and manage student health plans, including anaphylaxis, asthma, and other medical conditions, and contact families as required
Maintain and restock first aid kits, sick bay, excursion and camp medical supplies
Organise and track staff training in First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, Medication Administration (Medaz) and other required courses

Support health compliance, reporting, and emergency procedures in collaboration with leadership
