Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Facilities & Asset Management
Oversee the daily operation, maintenance and presentation of all school facilities, ensuring a safe, functional and high-quality learning environment.
Manage facilities records and compliance requirements through AIMS (Asset Information Management System).
Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment and grounds, identifying hazards, maintenance needs and opportunities for improvement.
Monitor and manage the schools CCTV system, ensuring functionality and compliance.
Coordinate contractors, tradespeople and service providers, ensuring all works meet DET safety standards and school expectations.
Manage furniture arrangements across the school, responding to program needs and changes.
General Maintenance
Carry out minor repairs, adjustments and maintenance across the school, including furniture, fittings, fixtures and equipment.
Develop and maintain proactive maintenance schedules, including:
Concrete cleaning schedule
Repainting schedule
Other seasonal or cyclical maintenance requirements
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and leadership, prioritising safety and student learning needs.
Landscaping & Grounds Care
Maintain outdoor learning areas, gardens, pathways and playground environments to a high standard.
Support the creation and upkeep of safe, inviting and engaging outdoor spaces for all students.
Complete seasonal landscaping tasks including pruning, planting, mulching, mowing, and general grounds care.
Event, Equipment & Program Support
Assist staff with the setup and pack-down of sports equipment, assemblies, events and whole-school activities.
Organise and set up chairs, tables and equipment for school events as required.
Arrange safe and efficient bus parking and site access for excursions.
Ensure all spaces are prepared, safe and functional for daily programs and special events.
Deliveries, Community Partnerships & School Presence
Manage and distribute all school deliveries, ensuring accurate logging and timely handover to staff.
Maintain strong, positive working relationships with suppliers such as Bunnings and other local partners.
Provide warm, genuine greetings to community members, contractors and visitors, reflecting Barayip's commitment to care, professionalism and connection.
Support the Business Manager and Leadership Team with facilities-related communication, planning and compliance.
