Graduate Nurse Program (GNP) 2026:
Through a model of continuous learning and development in a safe and supportive environment our Graduate Nurse Program aims to facilitate your transition from that of a newly graduated Registered Nurse to a competent and confident Registered Nurse. The Graduate Nurse Program is embedded into a comprehensive 2-year foundational paediatric nursing pathway which will provide you with the experience to grow your nursing skills, knowledge and expertise. During this two-year period you will complete 3 rotational clinical placements that incorporate medical, surgical and specialty nursing practice specific to our paediatric population. The second year aims to consolidate and advance competence, challenge you to contribute to excellent patient outcomes and encourage you to explore the career opportunities available within RCH.
The program is designed to promote:
• Child focused family centred care
• Competence in paediatric nursing practice
• Engagement in critical questioning and reflective practice
• Integration into effective multidisciplinary teams
• Practice within the areas of medical, surgical and specialty wards and departments
Our program will include:
• 2 year program (inclusive of a 12 month Graduate Program)
• Part Time 0.8FTE
• Orientation and preceptorship
• Supernumerary time
• Regular in-service education and training

• Recent employment history (include responsibilities in each role)

2nd and 3rd year Appraisals:
• Please provide only the appraisal pages
• Two appraisals are required, this must include one from your most recent placement
• Include ANSAT assessment, student reflection page and comments by preceptor (both interim and final assessment)
Academic Transcripts:

Selection Process – GNP 2026:
Application documents submitted are assessed by the selection panel in line with the key selection criteria and used to shortlist suitable applicants for interview. Applicants who are selected will be invited to an individual interview and are required to provide references.
Applicants selected for an interview will be notified via email only.
Successful applicants are subject to a satisfactory Police Check and a current Working with Children Check. Applicants will be required to provide their Australian Government COVID -19 Vaccination Certificate, as it is a requirement of the RCH to collect, record and hold vaccination information.
